What a weekend for the Sault Ice Hawks!
Five teams from the Sault Ringette Club hit the road last week to compete at the Guelph Ringette Tournament — the final club tournament of the season for most of our teams before Regionals and Provincials. The excitement (and the team spirit!) was in full force all weekend long.
Here’s how our Hawks soared:
🐣 U10 Ice Hawks (FUN3)
Our littlest Hawks had an incredible weekend, taking on some strong competition and embracing the full travel-team experience. From team meals to fun bonding activities outside the rink, these players are already learning that ringette is about more than just the game. They’re building friendships, confidence, and memories that will last for years. We can’t wait to watch these young athletes continue to grow in the seasons ahead!
💙 U12B
The U12B team battled hard, finishing the weekend with 1 win, 1 tie, and 1 loss. While it wasn’t enough to advance to the semifinals, their effort and teamwork were outstanding. And let’s be honest — they take home the unofficial championship for best team meals (those themed dinners were next-level!). This group truly shows what being a team means, both on and off the ice. Wins are great, but the memories made together matter just as much and this team is showing us what that is all about!
💪 U12A
The U12A team faced some top-tier competition — a first-time experience for many of these players. Coaches Bruce and Russ couldn’t have been prouder of how the team rose to the challenge. Though their semifinal loss was tough, they competed with heart and determination. Experiences like this build resilience, and this team is heading into Provincials stronger and more confident because of it.
🥈 U14B
Another podium finish for U14B — their third medal of the season! This time, they brought home silver after an exciting gold medal showdown against the Sudbury Northstars. In a thrilling finish, the Ice Hawks tied the game with less than a minute left, forcing sudden-death overtime. It was a nail-biter and a true display of grit and teamwork. What a game!
🥇 U14A
Three gold medals in a row! The U14A Ice Hawks continue their incredible run, capturing gold in a northern showdown against West Ferris. It was a tight battle right to the end, but the Hawks dug deep and pulled away when it mattered most. Their determination and composure under pressure made all the difference. What an achievement!
Next up: our U19B team heads to the Niagara Falls Ringette Tournament (March 6-8) for their last tournament before heading to Regionals in Timmins in at the end of the month.
Congratulations to all of our Sault Ice Hawks players, coaches, and families for another fantastic tournament weekend. We are so proud of the skill, sportsmanship, and spirit you bring to the ice every time you compete! 🦅
