But what if there was another option that's just as Canadian, just as exciting, and built specifically to help young children fall in love with skating and being on the ice?

The Best First Step on the Ice

At the Sault Ringette Club, our youngest players don't need to know how to skate before they start.

That's our job.

Our FUN1 and FUN2 programs are designed for children ages 4-6 who are taking their first steps on the ice. Every practice is filled with games, smiles, encouragement, and age-appropriate activities that build confidence while developing skating skills. Whether your child has never worn skates before or has spent a few weekends at public skating, they'll fit right in.

We Teach Kids to Skate—The Fun Way

Learning should never feel intimidating.

Our experienced coaches and volunteers focus on making every ice session positive, energetic, and fun. Children develop balance, coordination, confidence, and strong skating fundamentals without the pressure of competition. Before they know it, they're skating, laughing, and asking when they get to come back.

Skills That Last a Lifetime

Strong skating is the foundation of almost every ice sport. The skating skills your child develops in ringette transfer naturally to hockey, figure skating, speed skating, and recreational skating. If your family decides to explore another ice sport in the future, they'll already have an excellent foundation.

An Affordable Way to Get Started

Trying a new sport shouldn't be overwhelming.

Ringette offers families an affordable opportunity to introduce children to organized sport while receiving quality coaching and plenty of time on the ice. It's a great way to discover whether your child loves being part of an ice sport without the higher costs many families associate with getting started. We have a share/ swap site to help you get your player started with used equipment, helping keep costs low for new players.

A Community That Helps Every Child Succeed

One of the things families notice immediately is the welcoming atmosphere. Our older athletes regularly volunteer with our youngest players, helping them learn new skills, celebrating their successes, and becoming role models both on and off the ice. Young skaters quickly discover that they're joining more than a sport, they're becoming part of a community.

Registration Is Open Now

Our 2026-2027 season begins in September for FUN3 (U10) and older and October for our FUN1 and FUN2 (4-8 year olds) and runs through until March. Whether your child has never stepped onto the ice or is ready to build on their first skating experience, our FUN1 and FUN2 programs are the perfect place to start.
